Career Goals (short term/long term)

Goals Short/Longterm

Two years from now I plan to graduate from this institution with a BFA in graphic Design. Soon After that I want to have job in the advertising, marketing, branding area. No matter the position or company as long as I'm moving forward in the career. I prefer to work in a big cooperate setting that deals with a lot of clients. The diversity in clients will help keep my work fresh and versatile. But also humbling me to work harder because of the competitive context.
By getting this job I hope this will open up a huge window of opportunities for me. Such as network connections and building my knowledge in the field. If possible working in a ad firm that deals with clothing companies for promotional things or identity solutions. This will help build my knowledge of how a clothing company is ran and what is needed. Also giving me the experience of working on the creative side of a business. Dealing with promotional problems and last minute design dilemmas.
Once finish with moving around companies. The money saved up will kickstart my own company.
Managing an international mens clothing company that does in house production and design. Eventually branching into an franchising company around the world.
Review

"Edit yourself, but let someone else censor you."
"I have no idea what I’m doing, and everyone is just making it up as they go along."

The article had a lot of influential, helpful informational tips for an young designer. These two quotes really stuck out to me with the message provoked. Such as "Edit yourself, but let someone else censor you." Meaning create as much as possible. Without worrying about restrictions. Critique your work but do not let your critique hinder you from succeeding in the design. Let the audience be the critic and accept somethings along the process. Limitations can sometime determine a designers thinking process and approach to a project.
The second quote justifies why someone should be more acceptable to criticism. No one has the right answer and everyone is trying to figure it out at the same time. These quotes are some of the tools I use in order to progress in my work. Taking great interest in feedback and figuring out ways to implicate that.
