DP: Update

Processor

Processor the experience is an installation that calls attention to the consumption of people by technology. The piece attempts to depict the viewer trapped inside a digital device, as you interact with it. Driving interaction through a mirror image of the viewer and it’s surrounding. Depicted in a digital analog aesthetic. The viewer can interact with the piece by touching and pushing the soft cloth that the image is being projected on. Once the viewer engages with the installation a clearer image of the viewer will appear. This reaction is a conceptual attempt to depict the viewer trying to escape the device. Striving for a natural realization as viewers walk away.

Processor is an installation that is a moderate critique of present day cultures behavior. The installation does not wish to address this as an issue but to bring awareness to the behavior in an abstract way.

DP

So Ive been doing more research on projection mapping and what the final outcome of the space will be. As far as software research I have meetings with Ian Tirone, Cyan Meeks and John Baker this week. We will all be talking about different softwares and strategies to go about making this thing happen. Ive also found different software on my own that I've been looking at.

  • Millumin
  • ofxPiMapper
  • Vioso
  • Lpmt

As far as the structure Ive been looking in to geometric shaped structures. Im interested in the geo-domes. I think the dome structure will assist the idea of being immersive. Ive found a website with different plans on dome structures. They also have different software programs that I can use to help make the structure as well such as:
  • Sketchup
  • Antiprism
  • Geodesica

Inspiration

Here is some more inspiration for the degree project. In this project they create a double sided touch screen projection. Basically using a glass, a projector and a motion sensor. This something I thought was super cool and helps me find a solution for two people interacting with the piece at the same
time.

Audience:
My audience for this project will be everyone but it will target young adults. The music will be a playlist pre provided with a range of genres but it will mostly be relatively new music.

Degree project

Question: How can I combine music and design to create a captivating experience for the viewer embracing the space. Enticing the viewer to interact with each other and the space.

Research: Here is some different installations that utilize the space in a confined area. Fully captivating the viewer. I want to do the same while getting people to interact with space and each other. Also adding the component of music. Music is something that can be used to persuade feelings and emotions instantly. The installation will challenge the viewer with simple tasks to help them control the experience.

Ideas

  • One objective is to have a game while the music is playing. But the music will only play once you pass a certain level in the game.
  • Another objective is forcing viewers to interact with each other in order to control the experience.
  • visualizing the sounds of the music creating a captivating experience.

Projection software:
Ubi

Materials:
Web cam
Projectors
Headphones or speakers.

Some Needs:

1. I need to figure out how to projection map and figure out what software to use. To create the visual an how to connect the touch screen component.
2. I have to get a projector, webcam and head phones or speakers. So I can start to create and test out the functioning of the process.
3. Next Figure where this installation will be located and what it will be displayed in.
4. Then gather more research on sound.
