"I get there are reasons you want a new job but I want to hear why you want my job instead of why you're desperate to escape your old job."
This is one of the influential pieces of the article that stood out to me. Show how much you want the specific job and why it is a fit for for you, is how I took this statement. Understanding that your portfolio cant do all the work for you to get the job. This is something I can really learn from.
"Oh, I do want you to want the job -- but not before you really know what the job entails. I may need you to work 60-hour weeks, or travel 80% of the time, or report to someone with less experience than you... so sit tight for a bit."
This is another piece that stood out. This is something that I now face. Im so anxious and worried about getting a job. My enthusiasm might show during a interview. And this might lead me to more than I can handle. Asking more questions and being involved with the interview. Can help win you the position. This is something I personally have to work on as well.
I basically got from this article that getting a job and doing an interview. Is a game. Something that you have to learn how to play. And execute the instructions well. Which is how well can you present yourself, want and knowledge for the company.
